In 1981, Tom McGinn decided to plant an acre of grapes to supply his wine making hobby. After years of experimentation, we still wince when remembering the taste of some of the home experiments. He decided to plant a commercial vineyard in 1996 and build his winery. Three years later he yielded his first crop, and today Arena Blanca Winery produces barrels of award winning wines. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is a Gold Medal Winner for 2 years running, 2001 and 2002, at the NM State Fair Wine Competition, where NM wineries compete with their finest wines.
